Bound for the Public Garden

Tomorrow I'm driving 5 hours north to drop my kids off at my mom's, then 5 back to get home before flying to Boston for the rest of the week. I'm meeting my husband there, but he's got a packed schedule with his own work so that means I'll have four uninterrupted days to immerse myself in the novel I'm currently writing (insert enthusiastic whoop here!)

Keeper of the Pond is set in the Public Garden so I'm taking my camera and my laptop. I've been there before, but not like this, so after exploring every inch of the place (including the Boston Common) I plan to park myself in a quiet spot overlooking the pond and finish two key scenes the book hinges on. Wish me luck!

Be careful the tranquility doesn't get to you; birds chirping, squirrels chattering. Wistful thoughts. The photos are great and inspiring. Happy writing and safe trip.

I've been to the common a few times. Isn't the public garden right next door?

Have a great trip.

Sounds like a heckuva lotta driving before you even get to the darned airport and that tells me you're not only committed but determined. Me? I'm tired just READING your post!! *LOL

Barbara -- thanks for stopping by.

Adam -- yes, the Public Garden is adjacent to the Common. It has the swan boat rides and the infamous bronze ducklings. Great place!

Wordman17 -- Ha! It's amazing how determined one can be when one needs quiet time to write.

grats again, holly, for getting away for a while... and four days of writing, uninterrupted ;)

we have 'public gardens' in halifax, too, but hurricane juan devastated it, along with point pleasant park, and so many other places, a few years back... it will take centuries to get them close to what they were :(

Welcome to Boston. You can reach me through my site www.BostonZest.com if you would like an inside tour of the Garden. I'm a reporter and photographer for a local newspaper and that is part of my beat.

Oh, and the body of water in the Public Garden is referred to as the lagoon. Just in case that is your reference in the title.

Have a great trip, especially on the drive there and back. I'd be tired after all that driving. I always liked that drive from here, not sure I'd like driving through two cities though to get there.

Too bad I couldn't sign on as an author-caddy for those four days. I'd happily carry your laptop and your bags just to hang out with you at the Public Garden and see how you put it all together (a novel, I mean)
