I know there are mom's out there fantasizing about unwrapping jewelry, enjoying spa treatments, or having dinner in a revolving restaurant on Mother's Day while the waiter (who's so hot she can't stop staring) keeps the wine coming.
Not me, though. All I want is a box of earplugs for those days when I'm trying to pen a scene while the phone keeps ringing and doors keep slamming and half the neighborhood arrives at 3:30 to play with my kids, who won't stop arguing about whose turn it is! My husband thinks I'm kidding, but I'm not -- Ear plugs. Real simple. Someone please talk to him for me?
P.S. For anyone who read the post about my son's aggressive relationship with the tooth fairy earlier this winter, here's an update. He lost another tooth last night and when I got up this morning he was at the kitchen table with a $5 bill under one elbow, eating breakfast with his brother.
"Dude, she gave you five bucks?!" the older one said.
Thumbs up from the other side of the table. "Yup," my youngest replied. "And this time I didn't even have to threaten her!"

Hahaha...at least the tooth fairy remembered! There have been a few times where ours has forgotten. ;-)
I haven't even thought about what I want for Mother's Day! But my daughter gave me a gift early last night that she made at school - it made me cry and actually, I couldn't imagine anything better than her gift. :-)
LOL* I loved your son's first tooth fairy story. And this one
wraps it up beautifully!
A box of ear plugs sound fair.
I'd be a happy man if I were your DH: cheap solution and all!
P.S. That kid of yours is gonna be quite the teenager I'd bet
*tee-hee* Your son kills me!
Maybe you should ask for, like, gold plated ear plugs.
P.S. Thanks again for picking me as a winner yesterday over at Chris Eldin's blog
I can vouch for all the cute things Holly's kids say. I was there and it's true!
Sounds fair but maybe you should ask for a spa treatment too?
Go for the gold. Ask for twice as much as you think he'll get you, that's what I say!!
If I ever have a kid
this is the sort of mouthpiece I'll be hoping for. Really.
I remember the story. He's a real charmer. The tooth fairy set the bar a little high with the fin.
Ear plugs - get a good supply of the silicone ones. Those foam ear plugs hurt after a while.
I use earplugs for sleeping (hubby snores and so do I) but like to listen to music while I'm writing. A good set of headphones might lock out the kid noise.
lol at the tooth tale ;)
there are noise-canceling headphones out there, a bit pricey for good ones, but one can pretend to be listening to music!
Ask for headphones instead.
Much easier on the ears
and just as effective.
LOL! I couldn't keep the tooth fairy tale going for very long. And they bargain per tooth. Are molars worth more?
:-)
Happy Mother's Day!! Hope you get those ear plugs!
WOW, what a tooth fairy! *BG*
Happy Mom's day to ya. Hope you ge those plugs and your son's wit never ceases to make me chuckle.
Hee...go Tooth Fairy :)
Have a great Mother's Day!
Are those earplugs? They looked vaguely sexual to me....
Happy Mother's Day Holly!!
I gave my Mom The Silver Compass as one of her MD gifts. I know you'll have a new fan in her.
Kim
Hooray for earplugs!! Makes perfect sense to me. And yes, your kiddos are a riot. My youngest prefers quarters from the tooth fairy, go figure. :)
