Okay, I'm officially tired of shopping, cooking, wrapping gifts, and playing host. Good-bye to the tree, the decorations, and all that calorie-rich food. A good 10 or 12 hour hit on a keyboard is what I need right now. When do you take your tree down? Mine's outside on Boxing Day. My husband says I'm brutal, that I should leave it up until New Year's eve, but I'm all about pre-Christmas festivities. After the big day comes and goes, I'm done.
A new year looms and that means it's time for a new look on my website (check) and a new routine where writing comes first, and everything else follows. Each year, snow and cold weather aside, it's this shift alone that makes me love January!

Nice new look on the website.
You are brutal though (about the tree)! Take a week and enjoy it.
i'm with you, holly... i marched my 12" tree back to the top shelf today ;) lol
season's blessings to you and yours :D
I don't put up a tree.
I fly to my parents and let them do all the decorating work. That way I can truly enjoy it.
P.S. I heart the changes you made on your website!
I'm holidayed out as well.
January can't get here fast enuff!
Looking forward to January too. I can't write through Christmas distractions.
My MIL beats you for brutality. Her tree goes up Christmas Eve and comes down at the end of Christmas Day.
I used to leave mine up a long time, but they seem to be so dried out when we buy them now, that we just can't.
I'm with you, the faster the tree comes down the better. Mine would already be down but came down with a nasty cold during the holidays and was at the hospital this morning with a severe ear infection, but as soon as I'm better that tree comes down. I prefer to have it up for most of the month of December.
Your website looks fantastic!
Cindy
P.S. Aunty Hilma says Hi!
Gah! Who needs a tree? I glue beer cans in a heap and I'm happy. My girlfriend, however, does her place up till it shines.
(Nice change in the website)
I like the "Once Upon A Time..." and "...The End" on your website.
So apt!
Bring it on 2009.
Not till New Years at the earliest, otherwise I can't enjoy Christmas- it becomes the last day of "Christmastime" instead of the heralding of the season and great joy and all that. I bask in the glow of the tree and the presents and yummy food for the whole week between. :)
And I don't write much - my mind is in Victorian England and Vermont, and 1940's NYC and all sorts of Christmasy places for this time!
Getting my writing goals all lined up for the new year too. Going check out your site renovations now. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
I am excited about focusing on the writing come January, too! Nothing better than writing on those cold, winter nights. :-)
happy new year, holly :D
I agree, it's nice to get back to the writing first with January's arrival. Happy New Year to you.
I'm sure ready for 2009 to arrive. Looks like you are too!
(Your website gets better and better every time -- I like this update best)
I love that my house looks so much bigger when Christmas stuff is put down
