A little help from up above?

Here's a picture of my front
porch taken one week ago today
(I'm not kidding). My kids were building snowmen in the front yard and I had to dig out their winter clothes all over again. I was also listening to Christmas music as I wrote (see earlier post from last week) so the weather conveniently matched my mood.

Here's a photo taken today at the river where I walk our dog. It was so hot I had our A/C on full blast all day. Interestingly enough, I was writing a chapter where my main character's car breaks down in 85 degree heat and she has to change a tire with sweat running down her back. I guess I'd better stay away from floods and tornadoes, huh?

Man! You're like the weather shaman. ;) I'd like to request snow (or at least sub-90 temperatures) down here in Phoenix. I'd pay. Oh, I'd pay handsomely. :)

As a Texas boy living in a constant heat, I'm rubbing my hands together.

Couldya send me a few
days of that snow?!

Isn't that kind of the opposite of "pathetic fallacy?" You know, how the weather in a story is a reflection, or even supposedly caused by, the character's mood?

I dunno...I always thought that term sounded kinda dirty in a funny kind of way....

(I wonder what would happen if you wrote a scene where an author's house got magically cleaned by the vacuuming fairies??)

Isn't that crazy? We had the weird weather here in Boston, too. Had the heat on two weeks ago, now we're running around installing airconditioners.

Who knew that Holly was actually Mother Nature? :o))

Wendy -- I'm feeling so powerful :)

Anissa -- the weather shaman, what a perfect title

Wordman17 -- If I could, I'd do it for yah, no joke.

Heidi -- it does sound dirty *lol* and I LOVE your idea of a house cleaning fairy. Let me try it!

Trish -- The world's weather is going to crap, isn't it?!

Larramie and Steve -- Honestly, one never knows what's going to happen up here. Two years ago today we were flooded and I woke up to 18 inches of water in my basement office!!! Lotsa tears over that one.

ORION -- It's not the
weather that's making you antsy, it's THE BOOK!!!

I think we've actually had snow in Nebraska in May before. Thankfully, we didn't this year. We've been inundated with rain, though, which makes hubby none too happy since he's working in a concrete business!

I stood in that river last summer right, H!!? Is that the one behind your house? What's the name of it again? Bow or Elbow? Email and let me know if you can.

(Hubby's going on a golf trip and asked re: a course near there)

Ursula -- thanks for coming by, and for the kind compliments. My next novel is called The Silver Compass and it will be out April 1st, 2008!

Melissa -- I guess working in the concrete business (as well as other outside trades) would be horrible when it's raining, huh? Poor guy. Hope the sun shines soon for you guys!

Kathy -- I'll send you a note offline to discuss, ok?

It's sizzzzzzzling hot here as I type this so that snow looks awesome! Funny how we always want what we don't have, isn't it?!!

It has rained every day for the past three weeks, and there is finally discussion that the drought that has plagued us for years might be over. (the temp has yet to get above 75 degrees or so)

After the extremely snowy winter, and the 4 blizzards in a row we had, I surely hope so!

We're due for a tropical storm here, while I've been writing about snow...

Clearly I am not the weather shaman!

Kyla-dale -- very true! We want an agent, then we get one and we want to be published, then we get a few contracts and we want to hit the bestseller lists. Everthing is always just out of reach -- or within reach, depending how you look at it :)

Lady bronco -- 3 weeks of rain!!! I'd be sitting under a sunlamp, or maybe building some sort of boat in my backyard *lol*

Therese -- Good luck with your tropical storm. I hope all of your windows survive it intact this time!

Wow, you really are powerful. Could you do something about global warming?

You know you're good when Mother Nature starts peeking at your unfinished manuscript.

Fun weather we're having! I dunno, kind of creepy what's going on with the climate these days, if you ask me.

Which you didn't.

I apologize.
