Time for a reading for Southern Albertans...

If you live near Calgary, Alberta and can make it out, join us for a reading from The Penny Tree, (followed by an open Q&A about writing & publishing) this Friday. Here are the details:

Where -- Redwood House (Wolf Willow Room)
Redwood Meadows, Alberta

When -- Friday, May 11th @ 7:00 pm

Redwood Meadows is approx 15 mins west of Calgary, near the beautiful hamlet of Bragg Creek, known as the Gateway to Kananaskis. Take the 2nd marked entrance into Redwood Meadows off of Highway 22 and you'll find Redwood House on your right, next to the fire hall.

Snacks & refreshments will be served and there will also be a few fun giveaways as well. Those in attendance could win an autographed copy of The Penny Tree, a first edition hardcover of The Tin Box, or a limited edition tin box with the paperback edition of The Tin Box inside.

Oh, and this last photo?

If you go too far and drive past Redwood Meadows to Elbow Falls, you might stumble across this great little spot. If so, please turn around and come back to the reading. I know it'll be hard to drag yourself away, but you can always flag it as one of your favorite places (as I have) and return another day.

Great writing spot, huh?

Two of us from Cochrane are planning to attend. We read Penny Tree this month as our book club pick and loved it. Now we need you to autograph our copies for us.

Hee. How great would it be if everyone could provide pictorial directions? Hope you have a great turnout, Holly.

I'm almost tempted to by a plane ticket and fly out. But, it's a little expensive. Wish I could be there.

I want to go! First, to meet in person; second, to see you play "author;" third, to spend a day or two or eight touring Alberta.

Those falls are my DREAM writing spot. No kidding. Beeeee-ew-tiful!
Have a good reading

I could sure see myself setting up my laptop near that waterfall to do some serious writing.

You Canadians sure do have some awsome scenery up there

Well, I'll see who I can round up from my old home town...

Funny, I thought I'd been everywhere in Alberta. I don't know how I missed that place. It looks lovely!

yLinda & Georgette -- I'd be happy to autograph them for you!

Larramie, I've so tried to do posts sans any photos, but I just can't. It's like some sort of tic I have!! Ha!

Steve g - thanks for the supportive thoughts!

Therese - Alberta is such a great place. Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise... I could go on and on. But then I wish I could spend a month touring through some of the states. There are soooo many I've not yet seen :(

Kyla-dale & Wordman -- I've actually been known to set up shop with my laptop on one of those rocky ledges to write.

Seeley - your old home town?! Girl, you've lived everywhere. West coast, Alberta bound, and now Winnipeg, too. You're quite the traveler. Where would you live if you could pick the spot (in Canada, I mean?)

I am looking forward to visiting Holly.
BTW.
You aren't "playing author"
You ARE one.
Good job!

This is the first time I've commented on your blog. Pat Wood gave me your book The Tin Box to read recently. I have just started the book and am LOVING it! She tells me that I will get to meet you in Maui in August and I'm so looking forward to it. I can't wait to read your next book!

Ack! Goregous. I would be too distracted to write. I need rain and miserable weather. Have a great reading!

Wish I could snap my fingers and be there for this reading.
Toronto's just too far away
to try hitchiking and I don't
believe they sell $10 airfare
tickets these days *sigh*

Maybe next time you'll head out east to see some of us here?

Too soon to tell.

I still haven't been east of Winnipeg (in Canada that is).

Hey Holly,
LOVED hearing you speak at Redwood house tonight (an hour ago).
I particularly enjoyed hearing about the `behind-the-scenes` aspects of the writing profession and the humourous stories in your life that make their way into your writing. Upon closing this blurb it`s off to a quiet spot to devour The Penny Tree!
You mentioned tonight that you didn`t care for the title Bel Canto in Ms. Patchett`s new book. When we have our coffee - after June23rd -I can share a description of what the Bel Canto style in opera is all about and maybe you will like it better...or not!!haha, but it will make more sense at any rate!
Thanks again for a truely interesting and fun night
Love Lynn

Lisar -- thanks for stopping by! And please do come again.

Lynn -- I'm looking forward to the coffe AND your explanation of what lies beyond 'Bel Canto' as a title. I LOVED her book, btw, but didn't prefer the title. Thanks so much for taking the time to come out to the reading (as well as Jennifer, Meagan, Evan, Pat, Jim, and on and on.....) It was great to see so many supportive faces out there in the crowd! :)

Happy Mom's Day to you, too Heidi :)

Pinks, it's been ages since you've popped by (or me to your blog *red faced*) Man, life is just too busy these days, huh?
