And January's contest winner is...

I'm not sure if this is even close to what she looks like, but I'm hoping this is how our monthly contest winner reacts when she finds out she just won a jazzy little silver compass and a copy of my upcoming novel.

Congratulations and have fun reading Nadine Lavolie from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Your package will be mailed out to you as soon as I receive early copies of the book in mid-March.

Oh, Pat, I agree. Now only two more chances to be pointed in the right direction!

Pardon me for rubbing everyone's nose in it but Y-E-S-S-S-S-S-S!!!! That is exactly how I reacted when I got your email Holly.
What great news!

You made my month!

Yahoo! I may not have won this month's contest, but I got lucky in a different way.

A friend of mine works for a magazine I won't name & she lent me an ARE of your book last week. I LOVED it Holly. Here's my review as posted at B&N earlier this week:

< Her best novel yet
Ramona, an avid reader, 01/28/2008

Having read Ms. Kennedy's first two novels 'Tin Box and Penny Tree' I could not wait to read this one. I just finished an early 'Advance Reader Edition' of the book (lucky me!!) and must say this is her best novel yet! The Silver Compass is at times moving and deeply poignant while others laugh-out-loud funny. I would compare it to Lolly Winston's debut 'Good Grief' although not as light in tone and, for me, more stylistically satisfying. One can only hope Ms. Kennedy continues turning out work such as this. It truly warrants all the attention it will inevitably attract.>

Nice review from blogger Ramona!

Wish I could read it now. Maybe her magazine friend could lend it to me?!! Green with envy.

ORION -- as an early reader maybe you should get a silver compass on the house?

Larramie -- No! There's going to be a contest in Feb, March and one in April as well, BUT in April I'll be giving away six copies of the book and six compasses, not to mention some book bags! Watch for the post in March, okay?

Victoria -- keep entering your name!

Nadine -- I'm glad you're excited about it.

Ramona -- OMG, that's such a lovely review!! Thank you so much for doing that. So many readers read a book and like it but then never bother going online to do a review. I guess they don't think it matters or makes much of a difference, but it really does.
Again, thanks a lot!

Doreen -- Thank you for stopping by my blog and posting a comment.

Some people lurk daily and NEVER POST (right, Donna??!!)

Ramona -- Again, I appreciate the support. Yes, lending it out is nice but if everyone did that & nobody ever bought the book I'd eventually have to rethink this career of mine *smile*

Darn. Oh, well... try, try again. Congrats, Nadine (she said grudgingly). Enjoy the book and use the compass wisely!

Does that mean it's time to put our names in the hat for February? If so, I'm tossing mine in.

Ok Holly, I'll de-lurk today and say hello. At least you know, I'm always here for you.
