ARCs for The Silver Compass are here

I received a box of ARCs from New York yesterday and when I sliced it open, I felt the same surge of excitement I did with my first two novels. Then I sat back and realized if I write one each year and I live into my 80s, I'll be able to slice open at least forty more boxes of ARCs, and that'd be a really good thing!

I like the way you think!

Savor the ARCs. You've earned 'em. And then... go work on a book that'll bring you more.

I've got eight autographed
ARCs from different authors.
Wanna add to that pile and
donate one of yours?

Will TSC be coming out
in hard cover through
Doubleday Book club the
way The Penny Tree did?

I'd like to get the soft back (?) to read and then I want a hard cover to keep that no one ever reads.

Here's hoping for forty more. For you and for me, since that means a lot of really good reading.

Thanks for all the kind comments, everyone. To answer a few questions...

Ramona -- Sadly, because we're so close to the pub date of April 1st, I don't have any extra ARCs to give out on my blog. I literally only received half a dozen of them this time around.

However, that said, when I get early copies of the book mid-March I will give some away on my blog.

Adam -- See above. I'd love to give you one for your collection, but I'm staring at the last copy as I type this and I'd like to keep it for my own archives. Sorry, pal!

Lady Bronco -- You know what? I'm getting rather attached to this cover as well. There's something very inviting about it. Thanks for the kind words.

Demon Hunter -- Wish I could.
However, when I give away copies of the book mid-March at least it won't be riddled with typos and those unexplained words that seem to crop up out of nowhere between D&A and final pass pages that completely freak me out!

Moira -- Yes, I believe the book will be out in hard cover with Doubleday book club and the Literary Guild as it was with The Penny Tree. Otherwise, it's being published in trade paperback through New American Library.

ORION -- We got a huge dump this weekend. My boys are in heaven building a snowfort as usual.
