From 'vacation' back to revisions

I'm back from vacation, which is worthy of a post about two adults and two kids in a tent plus a wet 165 lb Newfoundland dog who won't stay out of the lake, is terrified of thunder, and sleeps on top of us where he
feels safer!
Yes, by the way, he does have his own boat, which my husband had custom built for our last Newf years ago (her name is stenciled on the other side, and as you can see, Sullivan's is on this side).

Oh, and when it comes to that nifty tent of ours on vacation, throw in upwards of 50 mosquitoes every night, 75-80 degree heat, an 8 year old who cannot understand why sneaking a frog inside at bedtime is such a big deal and NOW you've got a pretty good visual of our glamour filled week away visiting family.

Needless to say, I'm happy to be back at work on revisions, with a fresh set of ear plugs and duct tape stretching across the chasm of my office with a Do Not Disturb sign hanging from it.

Hope you're having a good summer, too.

I see Sully's head but where's the rest of him?

I'll be having a GREAT summer once it's over. ;-) Ha! I'm not a summer person. Despise the heat, and despise bugs!

Love Newfies. A friend raises and shows them. They're huge but so sweet. Hope you're well rested and ready to write!

Missed your updates Holly. Welcome back, hope you had a relaxing vacation. Rick and Sully look like they did.

Sounds like there's a novel embedded just in that trip!

Sully should be the protagonist...

Nice to see you back, and all good wishes for this next pass at revisions. :)

ORION -- He's actually lying down in the boat, but it DOES look like there's a big hole under him, doesn't it?!

Melissa -- How are things at your end? I hope everyone is healthy and happy. Yes, those mosquitoes are killers, aren't they?

Anti-wife -- This is our 2nd Newfie and he's half-human, I swear. They really are huge babies.

Donna -- you're gonna kill me, but we drove past Ft. Saskatchewan on our way home. I thought of yah but wouldn't have dreamed of stoppping and given how bug bitten and unshowered we all were, I'm sure you wouldn't have wanted to see us on your doorstep, either!!

Ha! A tent, 4 people and THAT BIG THING?!! You are more accepting than I could be. I'll take a five star Westin hotel room & even though your dog looks great, having him sleep on my bed would not go over well.

Therese -- Ha! Sully would be a bland protagonist. Lots of hair and slobber and sweetness, but not nearly enough OOOMPH.

Wordman17 -- You amaze me. I thought you'd be this tough, outdoorsy guy, but not so, huh? BTW, the Westin does accept dogs and Sully has been to a few of 'em!

Okay, so maybe Sully's a bit bland; fiction's the art of creative lying, right? He just seems like the perfect lead for a kid's novel, or movie.

75-80 degree heat -- stop, you're killing me!

You make it sound like so much fun, LOL. I love camping in early spring and late fall. Cold nights that kill mosquitoes (and great sleeping/snuggling weather), and warm, sunny days.

Pure bliss.

Camping in summer? Um, not so much.

I'm all for the 5th wheel method of camping versus going the tent route, but that dog of yours could join my family any day. What a kewtie!!!!!

Welcome back, Holly, where you can now camp out amidst your revisions in peace and quiet. As for summer, it's going fast.
